Our vision for Pharmacy Automation at BD

BD's Pharmacy Automation portfolio covers a wide range of hardware and software technologies such as storage and dispensing robots, pouch packagers, vial filling systems, blister card production systems as well as central fill solutions and enterprise pharmacy management software solutions.

About the role

As the Associate Director Software Engineering Pharmacy Automation, you will lead and encourage a high-performing team to successfully implement innovative solutions in the pharmacy automation sector. This role is pivotal in determining the technical vision and ensuring the seamless delivery of software projects from inception to completion.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and develop high-performing software engineering teams across Austria, Germany, and Central Eastern Europe.
  • Collaborate closely with other R&D sites in the United States, Canada, India, China, Ireland.
  • Manage resources, prioritize projects, and ensure timely, budget-compliant delivery.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement to increase speed to market and product quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commercial team, product management and design, to define product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Set the technical vision and drive the development of robust, scalable software solutions.
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure high-quality code and prevent defects.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks impacting the software platform's success.
  • Stay ahead of with industry trends and emerging technologies to identify new growth opportunities.
  • Participate in software solution architecture and system design to maintain a strong technical foundation.
  • Foster a strong engineering culture and act as a role model for inclusive, servant leadership.

About you

We are looking for experienced leader with proven track of record software engineering covering the entire software engineering lifecycle from requirements engineering software development, verification/validation and documentation.

You will also have:

  • Broad experience in leading diverse software engineering teams and technologies.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering methodologies to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Experience working globally with distributed teams across cultural boundaries.
  • Consistent track record of leading and launching software products globally, preferably in healthcare.
  • Expertise in Agile development and medical device software engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of healthcare IT, experience with healthcare software development including medical devices
  • Proven ability to drive organizational change and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead and develop high-performing software engineering teams (mid- to large-size teams of 50+ associates)
  • Strong communication skills and a proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong German and English language proficiency

This position is open to be located in Vienna, Austria.
