For 24 years, VRVis, a non-profit research center for visual computing in Vienna, Austria, stands for the successful transfer of knowledge and technology from academia to industry. Together with its Austrian partner universities, VRVis forms one of the largest visual computing clusters in Europe.
VRVis is looking for a Team Lead / Senior Researcher (Post Doc Level) with leadership experience to establish and lead a research group at the interface between Visual Analytics, Extended Reality and AI, as well as the internal coordination and external representation of VRVis research area Human-Centered Transitional Visualization. The candidate should have both a strong scientific background and an interest in issues related to industry, commerce, and/or government.
The acquisition, management and implementation of applied research projects, in particular in cooperation with industrial partners, within the scope of the funding available to VRVis and/or within the scope of national and international consortia, as well as the establishment and management of a suitable research team to carry out the projects are your central tasks.
You will have the freedom to determine the exact direction of the research group within the framework of the strategic objectives of VRVis and the existing topics and goals of the research area. It is highly encouraged for you to co-operate with other research groups at VRVis and our academic partners. It goes without saying, that you also present and publish your research and project results at scientific conferences and/or in journals, as well as to a broader public. As a research area coordinator, you will be responsible for a) cross-group coordination, communication and reporting, b) external communication and presentation of the research area, and c) managing the area-wide strategic projects.
Scientific expertise in one, at best in several of the mentioned or related research areas of visual computing:
Extended Reality
Experience in team and project management.
Experience in the acquisition of applied research projects.
Experience in co-operation with partners from the private sector, industry and/or the public sector. Management experience scientific projects on an international level are an advantage.
Excellent English. Knowledge of German is an advantage.
