The Symmetry Probes of Quantum Matter (SPQM) group, led by Veronika Sunko, explores the causes and consequences of symmetry breaking in quantum materials. We develop experimental methods sensitive to broken symmetries, and use them to discover, characterize and manipulate novel phenomena. The core experimental approach in our laboratory is using optics to investigate the symmetry of quantum materials in extreme conditions: at low temperatures, in high magnetic fields, and under mechanical strain. We are seeking a Research Technician who is enthusiastic about hands-on experimental physics and laboratory management. The position will be tailored to the experience and interests of the candidate, but will be centered around maintaining and assuring the overall efficient running of the laboratory. We are looking for a proactive team member to take a lead role in lab organization. This will include the following tasks:
